On a Friday afternoon in July, I went down to Union City NJ to capture the elopement of Dayna and Felix. After years of having a long distance relationship (Dayna practicing law in NJ and Felix living abroad in Switzerland) the two had an intimate legal ceremony at the William V. Musto Cultural Center followed by a small dinner at Maria Mentiras in Union City.
Along the way, as we wandered down toward the Weehawken water front to take some photos, a kind stranger invited us up to his rooftop to utilize the view. It was so fitting to be with these two who have loved each other from opposite sides of the globe to be thrusted on top of the world for a surprise adventure on their wedding day. It was beautiful, and I’m so grateful that we were able to be treated to the skyline!
After our portrait session, they had a small reception dinner at Maria Mentiras restaurant in Union City. Situated in the backyard, the vibe was very backyard lounge sprinkled with strong margaritas - it felt festive and unique just like the day had unfolded beforehand.
Thank you Dayna and Felix - capturing intimate elopements and the surprises that come along the way are one of my favorite things, and Union City did not disappoint!
